TikTok Feta Pasta

Heya,

My aim of the "Uni Meals" series was to provide a range of different recipes with prices (as of the Aldi website as this is where I shop) to show you how easy and cheap it is to make tasty meals. However, I've recently realised that all my most recent recipes are sweet. Whilst everyone needs a sweet treat as a student, I've realised I should probably start sharing some savoury recipes as well!

This recipe has been floating around TikTok and Instagram for a while and I've always liked the look of it. I've had to alter it due to my dislike of tomato texture but I've actually found blending them works super well. I also try to avoid garlic so instead used a garlic infused oil to keep that vital garlic flavour but you can add minced garlic and olive oil if you wish! Whilst the recipe is easy, it does take a while. When you include the various cookie times, it does tend to take over an hour from step one however it does make a few meals so I still count that as quick! The recipe itself is definitely on the cheaper side and also a nutritious balanced meal. Now I've started making it, I can't stop. I hope you love it as much as I do!

Here is my recipe for TikTok Feta Pasta:

Ingredients: (Serves 3) - total cost: £1.04 per portion

  • 1 (200g) Block Feta/ Greek Salad Cheese (£0.85)
  • 500g Cherry Tomatoes (£1.38)
  • Handful Fresh Basil (£0.26)
  • 2tbs Garlic Oil (£0.26)
  • 200g Macaroni (£0.29)
  • Sesame Seeds, to garnish (£0.08)

Method:

  1. Preheat the grill to 180'c
  2. Quarter your tomatoes and add them to a baking tray
  3. Drizzle over your garlic oil and basil and mix around ensuring all the tomatoes are covered in oil
  4. Place the block of feta in the centre of the tray
  5. Cook for 40 minutes
  6. When the feta is about 10 minutes from being done, cook your pasta
  7. When finished, pour your feta tray contents into a blender and blend with about 2 ladlefuls of pasta water (the blending is optional but I do it as I don't like the texture of tomatoes!)
  8. Mix the feta mixture into your pasta and serve
  9. Garnish with sesame seeds if you wish!
  10. Enjoy!!
