Lazy Sushi
Heya,
As you may know, my favourite food is sushi. If I bought sushi as frequently as I ate it at home, I would be out of budget relatively quickly (although the Yo Sushi student discount has been a live safer!!) so I wanted to make it. I have made sushi in the past but sourcing raw fish and "fancy ingredients" as well as making sushi rice is normally a challenge. Since I discovered you can buy pre-made sushi rice, this recipe has been a game changer. whilst more expensive than some of my meals its still not pricy and most importantly tastes delicious. I hope this recipes meet your sushi craving as much as it meet mine!
Here is my recipe for Lazy Sushi:
Ingredients: (Serves 1) - total cost: £2.61 (obviously this changes depending on what veggies & fish you choose)
- 3 pieces of Nori (£0.90)
- 1 pack Veetee Sushi Rice (£0.69)
- 1 can Tuna (£0.74) you can also use salmon, I generally use what I have available
- 100g Cucumber (£0.17)
- 1-2tbs Soy Sauce, to serve (£0.11)
Method:
- Heat your rice accordingly to the packet
- Lay out your nori on a sushi mat (if you don't have one, cling film works fine)
- Place about a third of the rice across the seaweed- careful not to touch it too much as this is when it gets harder to spread
- Place a thin layer of your toppings across the centre of the rice
- Roll as tightly as you can
- Slice into 6-8 pieces
- Enjoy!!
